Hamilton Branch Spill Channel (1997)
Hamilton Branch Spill Channel is an artificial spill channel in the PG&E Lake Almanor facility. The steep (10+%), open channel was subject to vertical and lateral erosion which threatened adjacent private property and contributed fine sediment to Lake Almanor. The project consisted of biotechnical slope protection and vegetation plantings, rock vanes, toe rap, and large woody debris in 1000' of channel. There have been numerous design spills with flows of 220 cfs that have occurred without damage to the project.
