The largest environmental film festival in North America is coming to the Town Hall Theatre on September 28, 2010 at 6:30pm! The Feather River Coordinated Resource Management group (Plumas Corporation), Plumas Arts, and Trout Unlimited-Feather River Chapter are proud to co-host the Third Annual Patagonia’s Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival in Quincy. This is a one-evening showing of 11 films from the three-day Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival in Nevada City, CA. Through the big screen, discover the change of seasons in the Anza Borrego desert, experience deep powder skiing in Japan, and observe the passion that young farmers have for the land. Other films will explore wildlife in British Columbia, a nationwide movement to protect human rights that started in Africa, and the effort of young kids to educate about climate change and make a difference in southern California. Proceeds from the event benefit Feather River Watershed awareness activities, Plumas Arts, and Trout Unlimited. Date and Time: September 28, 2010. Doors open at 6:00pm, show from 6:30-9:30. Feather River CRM Program Manager Receives National Recognition Mr. Jim Wilcox, Senior Project and Program Manager at Plumas Corporation for the Feather River Coordinated Resource Management group received the prestigious 2010 National Wetlands Award for Conservation and Restoration at the National Wetlands Awards ceremony on May 19 in Washington, D.C. Chosen for his innovative techniques and willingness to go the extra mile for meadow and river restoration, Jim has designed and completed more than 40 successful projects that have restored 48 miles of stream channels and riparian habitats. Pioneering the use of the pond-and-plug technique in California, he has successfully restored 3,400 acres of meadow floodplains and wetlands most of which lie in the Upper Feather River watershed within the Sierra Nevada mountain range in northeastern California.
